Sandra Hanekamp, Ph.D.
Sandra earned her Bachelor’s degree in Neurolinguistics, Master’s degree in Clinical Neuropsychology, and PhD degree in Cognitive and Perceptual Neuroscience from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. The aim of her doctoral project was to unravel mechanisms of neurodegeneration and neuroplasticity in patients with glaucoma using diffusion weighted MRI. As a postdoctoral fellow in the Simonyan lab, her current work focuses on brain structural networks in focal dystonias, such as spasmodic dysphonia and writer's cramp. Sandra is motivated to pursue an academic career and use neuroimaging to understand the etiology and diagnosis of neurological disorders.
